The Hispanic Chamber of Columbus will be hosting a Networking Event before the Currier Lecture Series at the Columbus Academy who will be hosting Dr. Samuel Betances on the evening of January 31. This lecture is open to the Hispanic Chamber of Columbus members and friends and is free of charge. The Networking will occur one hour prior to the Lecture at 600PM, Please RSVP through Face book or email Jordi at Jordi.Arimany@hccolumbus.com by January 27th to have a proper Head Count for light refreshments.
The mission of the Phil Currier Lecture Series is to bring to Columbus Academy speakers whose lives and experiences exhibit self-challenge, provoke thought and are agents of positive change. Ohio is Seeking Minority Business Enterprise (MBE) and Encouraging Diversity, Growth and Equity (EDGE) Contractors in Skilled Trades for Job Order Contracts. More than $1.5 billion in public repair and renovation work is expected to be procured under the Job Order Contract during 2012.
Representatives from the Ohio Department of Development, Ohio Department of Administrative Services, and the Gordian Group will conduct five outreach sessions throughout Ohio to identify potential MBE and EDGE contractors and subcontractors in the skilled trades to accomplish small- to medium-sized alterations, renovations, and light construction projects. In addition, the Job Order Contract process will be explained. Trades such as demolition, hauling, concrete, paving, landscaping, flooring, brick, rough-in and finish carpentry, painting, glazing, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing work will be included.
