ASM Global, the leader in privately managed public assembly facilities, has an excellent and immediate opening for a Guest Services Representative at the Greater Columbus Convention Center. The Guest Services Representative is responsible for providing fast, friendly assistance to customers, facilitates billing and reconciliation of event related services, and participates in the day-to-day functions of providing directions, building facilities information, and offer hospitality and tourist assistance. Interact with clients, facility staff, in-house concessionaires, and related personnel.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

Insure highest level of customer service.

  • Provide business center customer services including copying, faxing, shipping, tracking inventory and supervising coat & bag check services.
  • Reconcile UPS/FedEx shipping invoices.
  • Work with clients on charge backs / returned packages / lost and found, etc.
  • Work with clients on shipping claims (loss and damages).
  • Receive incoming deliveries, prepare appropriate paperwork and monitor delivery to the correct recipients.
  • Assist Guest Experience Coordinator to make cost adjustments to shipping rates as our tiers change
  • Answer incoming telephone calls, questions and messages.
  • Receive and respond to client correspondence and questions.
  • Maintain proactive marketing of Greater Columbus Convention Center services
  • Provide directions, building facilities information, and event information.
  • Provide information on local features such as shopping, dining, nightlife, sports, and tourism attractions.
  • Make dining and other reservations for guests.
  • Maintain the appearance of the Guest Services Area and its brochures, maps, magazines, menus, and other hospitality publications.
  • Notify respective personnel when Guest Services Area literature needs replenished.
  • Operate scooter, wheelchair, and cart rental and luggage and bag check.
  • Use a two-way radio for communication with management, security, and staff.
  • Due to the cyclical nature of the hospitality industry, may be required to work varying schedules including evenings, weekends, and holidays to accommodate business and client needs in the facility
  • Must have the ability to interact with guests in a friendly, courteous and polite manner. This will include initiating contact with guests within 10 feet – i.e. smiling, saying “Good Day” or offering assistance when needed.
  • Must feel comfortable when around large groups or speaking to a guest, as needed
  • Understands the importance of providing customer service and in understanding of “The Magic is in the Details”
  • Must obtain and maintain employer sponsored Certified Tourism Ambassador (CTA) certification, if applicable.
  • All other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Knowledge: Should know and understand the fast pace of a large convention center. Computer knowledge (MS Office required, Adobe program experience preferred) required and the ability to maneuver the internet. Ability to read and understand schedules and maps. Must have the ability to account for money and process credit card transactions.

Experience: High School diploma required. Some college education preferred. A minimum of six months experience in customer service or retail sales. Previous cash handling experience preferred. Certified Tourism Ambassador (CTA) preferred.

Skills/Aptitudes: Must have a professional appearance and a passion for customer service. Must have the ability to handle multiple customers and multiple duties. Must possess strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills. Must be able to speak, read, write, and understand English. Must have telephone etiquette. Must have eye/hand coordination and manual dexterity. Must be able to listen, hear, and respond to guest inquiries. Ability to distinguish letters, numbers, symbols, and colors. Must be able to work independently and maintain a positive attitude within a very busy environment. This position requires the ability to interact with all types of people. Must be able to get along with co-workers, customers, vendors, and visitors to the facility. This position requires the ability to respond politely to all individuals and work well as a team player.

Physical Requirements:

Position requires mobility. Position requires prolonged periods of standing on feet, sitting, and walking. Ability to go up and down stairs. Occasional bending and stooping. Frequent talking and hearing. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds on a regular basis.

Working Conditions:

Indoor and outdoor environment with exposure to noise, heat, and cold.
